I took another day off from work (you can do that when you are self-employed) and spent the morning die-cutting and the afternoon making cards. I got out a couple of dies and my Stampin' Up supplies and made a few red bird cards.
The corner flower die cut image is a Sizzix Tim Holt Thinlet that I just purchased. The bird and branch are Memory Box die cuts. I used my new pack of Stampin' Up! Real Red card stock for the red layer and the bird. The sentiment is also from Stampin' Up!

This is how it happens. A friend sends you a beautiful card with a fancy die cut butterfly on it. It's so pretty that you decide you want to order the die. While searching for that die, you come across other dies that you can't live without. This is one of them...Impression Obsession Die 253-U. I loved all the curls and swirls of the butterfly, so bought it right away.
I've been die cutting butterflies all day and the first card I made was a birthday card for a good friend. I decided on a 6" x 6" card in a green color scheme. The die cut is 4" x 3-1/4", so it needed to be a larger than normal card. I die cut the butterfly out of a pretty printed card stock. I then cut another butterfly out of a coordinating printed card stock and used the piece I cut if from for the layer. I glued the butterfly only at the center so the wings could be lifted for a dimensional effect. The metal accent with the birthday greeting is from a Stampin' Up Hodgepodge Hardware embellishment kit.

I can't believe it's been 4 months since I've updated my blog. If you could see my studio you would know why. In February of last year I started a new e-commerce business and it has taken off. My studio has become overtaken with inventory, shipping boxes and more. I miss my nice clean stamping studio and am determined to find storage space somewhere else, so I can have my craft room back. My friends that I exchange cards with have not given up on me, so I think I need to get my priorities strait and get back to what I love...making cards. My husband keeps telling me "Make a schedule and take a day just to make cards." So that is what I intend to do. My new goal is to make time for business, crafting and occasionally take a day off. Tomorrow is card making day!
