The Paper Players Sketch Challenge 359

With hurricane Harvey keeping us indoors, I've been doing a lot of die cutting to keep myself busy. Today I thought I'd participate in the challenge over at The Paper Players challenge blog. I started with a 5" x 7" card and a botanical paper layer. I then added a curved shape at the bottom then added a little punched butterfly (embellished with tiny pearls) at the top of the curve. To add more dimension, I added a die cut Monarch butterfly at the top. I added a second butterfly die cut (gluing only at the center), so the wings would lift up.

Lastly, I stamped a sentiment on an oval and backed it with a green card stock. Sentiment was placed at the bottom.

Thoughts And Prayers

This past week I was commissioned to make some greeting cards to send to church members. The focus of the card was to let them know they were being prayed for. I knew exactly which sentiment stamps I would use and had an idea of the type of card I wanted to make. Since I had been making cards with a curved decorative layer, I decided to use the same type of layout.

I sorted through my scrapbook paper and found this gorgeous paper in a light blue color. I cut the curved piece and attached it to the left side of a 5" x 7" card. The sentiment I wanted to use for the front was "Amazing grace will bring us through". I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the card. I die cut a butterfly in a yellow contrasting color and attached it to the top. It needed just a little something more, so I found a berryvine flourish image and stamped it under the butterfly. The inside message read, "You are in our thoughts and prayers" and signed it from the church family at White Horse Revival Church.

Quick and Easy Birthday Card

I am making more and more cards with a curved decorative background paper because I really like the way it looks. Today I made the curved piece so it would fit the left side of the card. I had this gorgeous floral paper, so cut it using my curved template and attached it to an A-2 card. I used Orchid Opulence ink for the happy birthday sentiment, which I stamped at the top. I used one of my die cut butterflies (trying to match the color of the ink) at the bottom.

Bird Song

I love this stamp set from Stampin' Up! It's the 1995 set Garden Collage and today I thought I'd make a few cards using the bird image. I came across a card I made years ago and decided to use the same layout. The set also contains a butterfly collage stamp that I really like. I think it is the collage aspect of the image that makes me like it so much.
